Though I really wanted to go to my grandparents in Missouri for the Fourth of July, I really didn't think I could make the trip alone with the two kids. We stayed here with Brent and had good time. The Saturday before we went to Kechi with our neighbor for their annual parade and Nile loved it. Saturday the 3rd we went to a parade here in Park City with more friends and Nile got more candy! Emmy just hung out. Afterwards we went to the park where they had free ice cream, children's train rides, petting zoo, pony rides and more. Nile had a lot of fun! It was hard for me with the two kids and so many people, but luckily my friends were there and helped me! It rained Saturday afternoon so they postponed the fireworks until Sunday. Sunday we went to our friends for a BBQ and did sparklers with the kids. The fireworks were cancelled due to rain, which was annoying since it stopped raining in the afternoon. But since fireworks are legal in Kansas and Park City doesn't have the height limit laws that Wichita has, just about every household, it seemed, was outside shooting off fireworks. Brent and out neighbor put on a really good show!
Kiowa
Brent moonlights in a little town in southern Kansas named Kiowa. He goes there about once a month, its not very busy and so we go with him and get to hang out with him. This weekend I was sick and went with him and was able to rest and he played with the kids. Saturday night we decided to go to the movie, they have one movie on the weekend. Nile has been to a couple movies, Toy Story 1&2 and I took Nile and Emmy to How to Train your Dragon and Toy Story 3, so we thought we would go see Karate Kid. There were maybe 20 people in the theater, but the sound wasn't the best and Nile would not stop talking!! Emmy was fussy so I was walking in the back with her until she fell asleep. We have Nile potty trained for number 1, so while letting him drink the entire root bear to keep him quiet seemed like a good idea at the time.... pretty soon he was bouncing all over and had to "Pee!" He just shouts "Pee Mommy, PEE!" After that he was drinking more, we still didn't learn, he started coughing then shouted "I'm OK". To this Brent and I tried not to laugh and were holding it in, but Nile still noticed so he kept repeating the cough and the I'm ok. Finally he calmed down a bit and literally at the very climax and end of the movie Nile announced he had to pee again and so Brent missed the end of the movie. I have never been so glad to get out of a movie! I think the moral of the story is, no more movies for Emmy, only take Nile to cartoons AND NO SODA!
