Land Oweners

Well, we are the new owners of 85 acres of "great hunting land".  We don't close until November 1st, so I guess it isn't officially ours yet.  Maybe in 10 years or so we will build a house on it, we will see.

This is only a little bit of it, there  is a lot more that is wooded and we didn't attempt to drive on.

More of the house

Here are some more pictures of the house.  Brent's parents came for a day and I was able to paint the front door.  The house was very plain on the front so I think the new door color helps a lot!
The way the front of the house used to look

Newly painted door!

I love the red door!
patio area.  can't wait until the jeep top can go in the garage!

Garage floor in my garage; Brent put down epoxy and made this nice hawkeye in the garage as well!

The House

We have been in the new house a little over a week now.  The kids LOVE the yard.  They want to be outside all the time.  The house it much better now that we have all of our stuff set up and most of the boxes out.  We changed some door knobs out which made a big difference in the updating catagory.  Before we moved in I thought the first thing I wanted to update was the blue tile in the entry way.... now I want to redo all the bathrooms first.  I have a bathroom with brownish toilet/tub/sink.  One with Red and one with Navy!  The brown one has to go first!
Entry way with the blue tile and more garbage and boxes to go out

Nile's room.
He was so excited about his Hawkeye room! Its in the basement ans so far he has done very well with that

This is a little kitchen area in the basement.  I also decided to put all the books and  toys in the closet under the stairs (closet not pictured)

Our room.  Its huge! We ended up putting two chair in it to fill it out some

we also have another closet in the hallway to the master bathroom which I claimed as my own :-)

Master bath... we wont get to close, navy sink and toilet here

Emmy's room.  she has her own bathroom.  There is also a half bath in the hallway and I have been thinking we could combine the two when we remodel them

Toilet in Emmy's bathroom!

Move to Iowa

We didn't waste any time getting out of Kansas! We moved on June 30th.  Really though our moving schedule was dictated by the moving company and the 4th of July Holiday.  It was sad to leave our neighbors and our house.  I didn't cry until the neighbor came out to say goodbye and cried, thanks Deb :-)  We drove up and spent the night in our new house on an air mattress.  There were some weird surprises like, there were no keys for our house, the previous owners "had lost them years ago", the house was not as clean as I would have hoped, and the house still had all the old stinky rugs and the garage had 24 gallons of old paint left in it.  The cable company and the locksmith came out first thing July 1st to get things hooked up and to get door knobs ordered. Then the moving truck arrived.  Instead of pulling down our drive and possible hitting a tree branch they blocked the entire neighborhood and parked in the road.  Brent had to help by driving his truck up and down the drive with boxes and furniture and Brent and two other movers were able to get the truck unloaded in one day when they told us it would take two! I was really glad it got done in one day!  We have been busy unpacking and cleaning.  My parents came and helped do things around the house.  My mom and I also explored all the shops in town and were happily surprised at the neat shops we found!
