Nile's First Bday

Here are some pictures from Nile's first birthday! Only one little friend was able to come, Kyle, his mom and dad (a family we met at church. Grammy was able to come down and she and Grandpa bought Nile his new red wagon! These days Nile loves to be outside, to play with cars and throw balls. He started growling and also can bark when you ask him what a dog says. He doesn't say a lot of words, mama, dada, he tries to say dog and that, they sound almost the same. Based on his mood he will wave bye bye. He also says Huh? I guess we must say that to him a lot! I cant believe how fast he is growing up!

First Day of Work

Today was my first day at my new job. It went well, it was just hospital orientation which is always a little painful and boring! Nile did well at daycare and I managed not to cry when I left him, though I did cry when i was driving him there! Nile had his 1st Birthday today! I can't believe how fast the time has gone! We had a little birthday party for him on Saturday. We invited his "little" friends but no one was able to attend so I was EXTRA happy that my mom was able to make it for the party. Friday afternoon one of the families we invited called back and said they could make it after all. So it was Nile and Kyle at the party!
Our trip to Portland went well! It was so nice to see Ben and Steph and their new little baby boy! He is so cute!

Cars

Nile is a car man! He plays with his cars all the time, pushing them around making little vrrrrm noises. It's so cute! He also enjoys throwing things down the stairs :(

happenings

I have accepted a job on the Pediatric floor at Wesley Medical Center. I will be working on a PRN basis. The requirements are that I work 16 hours per pay period and 8 of those on the weekend. So I will most likely work about two days a week. I start on Nile's birthday, Oct 20th. It's sad, but we are having his party on Saturday. I guess he won't mind. Nile will be going to Word Of Life day care. It is at a church we visited a few times. He is actually going to go there tomorrow for a couple hours while I go to the hospital for some paperwork and stuff.
Nile has 5 teeth now, however last night he slipped in the bath tub and bit his tongue really bad, it was bleeding EVERYWHERE. The neighbor who is also a resident looked at it since Brent was on call and at the hospital all night.
Oct 8th is the big day! When Nile and I fly to Portland to meet baby Beau! I can't wait!
Thanks to Ben for fixing my computer and giving us a wireless router, it's awesome!

Baby Sherman is Born!

Beaumin Gabriel Sherman was borth today! 9lbs 10 oz and 21 inches long. I have only seen one pic via cell phone, but he looks really cute! Big cheeks :)

Colorado

Yesterday we got home after spending a few days in Colorado with the residency. It was fun minus the fact that we are extremely sleep deprived! We arrived Friday evening, we walked around Lake Dillon a little bit and went out to dinner. Saturday we rode up the mountains and then got out and climbed a bit in the snow. We stopped by Breckenridge for Oktoberfest and ate lunch. That evening we had a pizza party. Sunday we rode our bikes up the mountain to Veil Pass. It was only about a 13 mile ride up, but it took 2 hours of riding time, not including rest breaks. And then it only took about 30 minutes to go the 13 miles back down the mountain! Monday we attempted to do the 14,000 foot climb (we started around 10,000 or so) needless to say we had to turn back. Nile was crying and we were tired. Next time we will make it!
Brent is back to work today and I'm working on laundry!

interviews

Yesterday I had two interviews at Wesley. One was in Peds and the other in a stepdown unit similar to where I used to work. Both jobs required working every other weekend which I'm not a fan of, however the manager of the stepdown unit told me I could work on a PRN basis (as needed) and work whenever I wanted. She said they are so short that the PRN nurses sign up for their hours ahead of time and that way I would be able to work out daycare. They also pay prn nurses 10% more. Human resources called today and offered me the job in the IMU as its called. I told her I needed to talk it over with Brent since I haven't had a chance to and I would get back to her after we get home from Colorado. The only downside to all of this is I have to work full time during orientation, 7-3 monday through friday. One of the residents wives might be able to help me out with watching Nile though.

To Nurse or not to Nurse

I've been thinking, ok worrying, a lot about finances and trying to think of something I could do to improve them. I decided to fill out an application for Wesley Medical Center, the hospital in town that Brent's residency does NOT work at. I filled out the application Thursday night for part time day shift positions and to my utter surprise the hospital has called me three times since then to set up interviews! I don't know if I want to do it! But I'm going through with the interviews on Wed just to see what it's like. I don't want to put Nile in daycare, but if it's only part time it could only be a couple days a week.
My other thought is I could find a couple kids to babysit during the week and then i could be home with Nile all the time. The only downfall I can find with that is, no days off.
Anyway, We will just have to pray about what to do and trust that it will all work out.

Moriah

My Friend Moriah passed away last week while I was in Iowa, however the funeral is this coming weekend so I wont be able to go. I wish I could go back for it, but I just cant do that to Nile.
